Privacy and Data Protection Policy
Safeguarding your privacy on IATI Connect is essential to us. This brief privacy statement outlines our policy concerning the gathering and sharing of information through the IATI Connect platform. By visiting and using this platform you are consenting to accept the practices described in this policy. This consent is given voluntarily and can be revoked at any time (via connect@iatistandard.org). Due to possible legal changes or improvements to internal processes, we recommend our users to regularly read this data protection and privacy declaration.
What kind of information do we collect?
Using IATI Connect anonymously
Depending on your personal preference, you may browse the IATI Connect platform without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. We gather general browsing data from standard server logs. These include your IP (Internet Protocol) address, domain name, browser type, operating system and information such as the website that referred you to us, the files you downloaded, the pages you visit and the dates/times of those visits.
Collection of personally-identifiable information
If you register for the IATI Connect Snapshot, provide feedback or join a group, you will be asked to provide personal information such as your name, and e-mail address. This information is collected only with your knowledge and permission
Joining online discussion groups may mean that other participants of the discussion group (including non-IATI employees) will see personal information that you have volunteered in completing your Connect profile. For open discussion groups, this information will be public. When setting up your personal profile, you can decide which personal information you want to disclose publicly.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally-identifiable information while on the site.
By accepting cookies, IATI Connect will remember you the next time you visit the site and therefore will not have to ask questions that you have already answered.
You are always free to decline our cookies if your browser permits, although in that case you may not be able to use certain features on the site and may be required to re-enter information more frequently to use certain services.
Migration of Discuss users and content
All discussion threads (content) and user profiles from the former discussion space IATI Discuss were migrated to IATI Connect. These users should have received a notification of their transferred profile as part of this migration in late 2020/early 2021. This profile transfer did not disclose any (new) personal information that was not previously approved by the user on IATI Discuss.
What do we do with the information we collect?

The information gathered during general browsing of the IATI Connect site is used to analyse trends and usage of the site and to improve the usefulness of the site. It is not connected with any personal information, and we will not disclose this information with third external parties.
